Professional Renewal Leave (PRL) Course Database

The following is a list of courses obtained from the CEO which have been used for PRL. Further information on these courses and others can be obtained from the School Personnel Section of the Catholic Education Office of Western Australia.

  1. Canada
    Eight weeks of PRL were used to enroll in two units of a Master of Education degree at the University of Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. The course runs for nine weeks and equates to nine credit points.

    1. All Hallows College, Dublin: offers programs of varying length under their Continuing Education & Sabbatical Programmes.

    2. The Irish Missionary Union Institute at Dalgan Park, Ireland offers a Growth for Ministry Program.

    3. An Tairseach, Dominican Farm and Ecology Centre,Wicklow, Ireland.
      This Centre offers a ten week program of Spirituality and Ecological awareness or individual programs.

    1. Tantur Ecumenical Institute for Theological Studies, Israel offers a four week course in biblical studies.

    2. St George's College, Jerusalem offers short term and long term courses on biblical studies including a fourteen day course based in Turkey on St Paul and the Early Church: From Jerusalem to Ephesus.

    1. Hawkstone Hall, Redemptorist International Study Centre, UK offers a six day directed retreat.

    2. The University of Oxford (UK) offers a summer programme of varying weeks, for example, 'Theology and Spirituality' is a two week theology course.

    1. Boston College,Massachusetts, USA: the Institute of Religious Education and Pastoral Ministry. The College offers a summer school program which is of six weeks duration and comprises three fortnightly courses on topics such as theological studies, the history of religious life, and the Church's liturgical life.

    1. Five weeks of PRL were used to complete two Religious Education units in external mode at the University of Notre Dame, Fremantle.
